Prevencionar Congress 2019 Summary

Prevencionar Congress 2019 Summary

On October 3 and 4, 2019, the 2nd Prevencionar Congress was held. The atmosphere throughout the congress was magnificent and once again, it has provided us all with an opportunity to share knowledge and viewpoints with professionals from all areas of occupational risk prevention. For this reason, everyone at GespreObra is very grateful to the organization for the contributions of this congress to the occupational health and safety sector.

Health and Safety from Theory to Practice

Under the slogan “from theory to practice,” the organizers of the Prevencionar Congress 2019 put together a program full of highly interesting proposals, lectures, and project presentations. The congress featured 40 stands and was attended by 1,500 delegates from various countries and 200 specialists.

During the Prevencionar Congress, topics of great relevance to the occupational health and safety sector were discussed. There was talk of integration and the coordination of business activities. There was also discussion regarding training and safety in the operation of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), through IPAF Spain. During the Congress, the topic of Applied Psychosociology was extensively addressed which, as we previously published in an article on our blog, is a subject that often remains in the theoretical field and is not usually approached from a practical point of view. On the other hand, very interesting developments were seen regarding the gamification of occupational risk prevention.

GespreObra’s Participation in the Prevencionar Congress

GespreObra did not want to miss the opportunity to contribute its grain of sand to an event of this nature. Therefore, it participated as an official sponsor of the 2nd Prevencionar Congress 2019.

In this regard, Rosa Luz Carreño, CEO of GespreObra, conducted the workshop “Health and Safety Coordination on Construction Sites – From Theory to Practice”. Practical issues were raised in this workshop, such as the legal consequences of the lack of specificity in legislation and the different interpretations of it. Aspects related to the actual functions of a health and safety coordinator during the construction execution phase were also brought to the table.

Rosa Luz Carreño at the 2nd Prevencionar Congress

In the interview that Dolores Rico conducted with Rosa Luz Carreño in the Congress’s “Chester” space, some of her insights on the matter are captured. For example, the actual functions of the health and safety coordinator on-site are not what they should be. The absence of specific legal requirements regarding training for the health and safety coordinator does not help. You can watch the full interview below.

Conclusions of the Prevencionar Congress

Finally, it can be stated that the general impression among attendees of the Prevencionar Congress 2019 was very positive. In our humble opinion, it could be described as a total success. The closing ceremony was attended by more than 250 people, confirming our perception.

Closing Panel Discussion

During this ceremony, a panel discussion took place where we could hear the most relevant aspects of the congress from some of its key figures, such as Roberto Hermosilla, Guillermo Soriano Tarín, Gabriel Cesar Jimenez, Natalia Fernández, and Rosa Luz Carreño.

During this panel discussion, the role of the Prevencionar Congress in the sector was highlighted, as it serves to showcase the work of occupational risk prevention technicians and other professionals in the health and safety sector. The work carried out by SMEs in this regard was also noted, and the conversation shifted from “laws” to “practice.” In short, it was evident that the Prevencionar Congress 2019 lived up to expectations, and its level of quality and relevance is equivalent to other similar events organized for entire continents.

Shared Personal Satisfaction

For her part, Rosa Luz Carreño highlighted that she felt happy and blessed to have participated in an event that was both simple and enriching, serving as a meeting point for great professionals and friends. Sharing the love for such a demanding profession with these friends and colleagues generates a lot of enthusiasm—an enthusiasm shared by the entire GespreObra team.

In any case, one of the most exciting moments for Rosa was seeing the GespreObra name printed on the congress identification badge. It is a kind of reward for the effort of a small company in the hostile business world, and specifically, in the field of Health and Safety in construction.

Thus, the GespreObra team is already looking forward to participating in the next International Prevencionar Congress which, according to the organization, will be held in October 2021.
