Safety and Health Coordination for Health and by Health
Engaging in the management of occupational risk prevention, and specifically in safety and health coordination on construction sites, provides many satisfactions. One of the most notable is the satisfaction of working for and by people’s health.
If, in addition, these safety and health coordination services are linked to a project that, once completed, manages health, the satisfaction is double.
This is precisely what happened in the recent collaboration in which GespreObra had the pleasure of participating. It involves the Safety and Health Coordination of a very special project.
This involves the renovation and adaptation work of spaces for the Adolescent Oncology Unit of the Niño Jesús University Children’s Hospital, a reference pediatric center belonging to the Madrid Health Service hospital network.
Coordination of Particular Difficulty
Due to the characteristics of the services provided in a hospital, the level of difficulty in coordinating the work increases. For this reason, GespreObra has made a special effort to meticulously manage the services provided:
- Safety and health coordination as stipulated in Royal Decree 1627/1997, of October 24, which establishes the minimum safety and health provisions for construction works.
- Coordination of business activities, as stipulated in Royal Decree 171/2004, of January 30, which develops Article 24 of Law 31/1995, of November 8, on Occupational Risk Prevention.
Regarding the services provided, it is important to highlight the enormous importance of optimal access control to work areas. Likewise, strict documentary management of the contractors and subcontractors involved in the process is necessary.
Coordination must also be complemented with adequate safety inspections.
These must be linked to the level of risk existing in each work area, supervising that the functions of the preventive resource for particularly hazardous work, established in Article 32 bis of Law 31/1995 of November 8, on Occupational Risk Prevention, are correctly managed.
Gratifying Result
In the following video from the Juegaterapia Foundation, you can see the final result of the project, reflected in the inauguration of the Santa Luisa adolescent wing of the Niño Jesús Pediatric Hospital, as part of the “El Retiro Invades Niño Jesús” project.
