April 28. World Day for Safety and Health at Work

April 28. World Day for Safety and Health at Work

On April 28, as every year, World Day for Safety and Health at Work is observed. Its purpose is to promote the prevention of health damage caused by accidents or illnesses arising from work worldwide.

An Observance with History in the Field of Occupational Risk Prevention

Since 1996, with the purpose of honoring the memory of victims of workplace accidents and occupational diseases, international campaigns have been conducted by workers. All of this was organized within the International Day of Remembrance for Workers Killed and Injured with the aim of raising societal awareness in this area.

It was from 2003 onwards that the specialized United Nations agency, the International Labour Organization (ILO), became actively involved in this awareness-raising project.
Since then, all institutions worldwide involved in occupational risk prevention have organized activities related to the sector. In this way, awareness actions related to good practices and the promotion of health at work are promoted, all within the framework of World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

Shared Responsibility on World Day for Safety and Health at Work

In this endeavor, there is a shared responsibility among the stakeholders in the field of safety and health at work, including trade unions, professional associations, companies, etc., in promoting a preventive culture. It is important to note the significance of each party fulfilling their obligations and responsibilities in order to prevent work-related health damage.

For all these reasons, Gestión Preventiva en Obra SLPU, GespreObra, is aware of its responsibility in the field of occupational risk prevention management, promoting in all its projects the integration of prevention at all hierarchical levels of organizations. It is vitally important to foster a preventive culture on site, while ensuring compliance with legislation on Occupational Risk Prevention.

At GespreObra, we focus our intervention on construction sites with the aim of implementing a preventive culture, establishing the foundations for proper compliance with the legal and regulatory framework. Thus making our contribution to this commendable purpose in the delivery of our safety and health coordination services.
