Ms. Rosa Luz Carreño González, CEO of GESPRE, will be in charge of moderating the construction panel “What happened to occupational risk prevention in construction?” The panel will address the most current issues in occupational risk prevention in construction.
The panel, with its title already reflecting in a very condensed way, what is the main problem of occupational risk prevention. Issues such as the following will be addressed:
- Why do we speak of “what happened” and not “what is” occupational risk prevention in construction?
- What have been the causes that have led to a loss of quality in on-site risk prevention?
- What causes have been decisive for this loss of quality? The crisis? Unqualified practice in Health and Safety Coordination? Job insecurity?
- What are the reasons that have led to the current state of ORP in construction?
- If major and minor projects have been developed during the crisis, why have the established safety measures not been applied?
- Has the lack of personnel in subcontractors been influential, leading to the use of self-employed workers who lower their prices to maintain an income, and who, coincidentally according to the Law, need not provide anything more than their labor, thus depending on what contractors provide to protect them?
- Are we talking about lack of knowledge or profitability?
All professionals attending the Congress should attend this panel, as it reflects the greatest setback in occupational risk prevention on construction sites, not seen in any other sector, caused by letting their guard down and prioritizing other aspects, such as those championed by today’s society of consumerism and greed, without prioritizing the most basic of principles, which is the LIFE OF PEOPLE, including our own.
